Chanel Classic Flap Prices Increase Again

Chanel has Increased the price for their Classic Flap handbags again. This following a 9% increase last August 2022. Critics believe the price hike is in an effort to become a more exclusive and desirable brand, similar to Hermès. The medium Classic Flap which retailed for $8,800 in the United States, is expected to rise to $10,200. That’s a 16% increase!

Chanel is also cracking down on the number of handbags customers can purchase at one time. In New York, there were monthly limits on the purchases of certain classic styles.

Hermès  bags are handmade, genuine leather and one of a kind. What are you getting with Chanel? The bags are not handmade and are not all leather, so why are you paying premium prices?

If you are anything like me, you get all your luxury brands from consignment stores or from one of those previously loved sites like eBay or Fashionphile to name a few. I try to buy pre-owned, not just because it’s cheaper, but because it’s better for our planet. I love fashion, and I realize to some it’s an investment, but I cant afford to spend $10,000 for one bag. Seems like Chanel moving towards the exclusive club, where only the wealthy can afford their handbags. I own 2 Chanel bags, both bags were pre-owned and were priced pretty reasonably and were in great condition. Shopping pre-owned bags saves on average 12.1kg in carbon. It’s not only budget-friendly but also environmentally friendly! My Favorite Pre-Owned sites: FashionPhile, Farfetch, Rebag and ebay

And for my peeps that don’t want to buy pre-owned, here are some alternative brands that offer a similar look.
